Dripping Springs
Twisted X is okay for kids. There's no playground but they have games to play. It's close to Dripping Springs so we sometimes stop here, but it's not the most exciting for us.
Twisted X Brewing Company in Dripping Springs brings a fun Tex-Mex twist to the Hill Country craft beer scene. Known for their creative brews like the Fuego Jalapeño Pilsner and Whoa-Mango IPA, this brewery offers something a little different—and it's reasonably accommodating for families with kids.
While there's no dedicated playground at Twisted X, the outdoor space is spacious with picnic tables and a laid-back patio vibe. Kids can play lawn games like cornhole and giant Jenga, which keeps them entertained for a while. There's room to move around, though not acres of open space like some of the larger Hill Country breweries.
The brewery is dog-friendly, and food trucks are regular visitors, so you'll usually find something to eat. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming—parents with kids aren't out of place here, and the staff is friendly.
What makes Twisted X stand out is the beer. Their Tex-Mex-inspired flavors are unique in the area—the jalapeño pilsner has just enough kick without being overwhelming, and their seasonal releases keep things interesting. They also do a solid traditional lager if you want something straightforward.
Located right in Dripping Springs—just 25 minutes from downtown Austin—Twisted X is easy to get to and makes a convenient stop if you're brewery-hopping in the area. It's not our top pick for a full family day out, but it's a decent option if you're nearby and looking for good beer in a relaxed setting.
